What is Roga Prashna in Astrology?

Roga means 'disease'. The particular stream of prashna method where we focus on finding the root cause for a sickness is called 'Roga Prashna'.

Every human body is prone to diseases of various nature. Types of diseases which we humans get affected with depend upon one's Karma i.e. one's deeds in the previous births or past lives. The cumulative effects of good or bad deeds in the past births is felt in this birth in the form of good or bad health too. Apart from health, all factors connected to the life will be revealed in the horoscope or Kundli from which we can find out the root cause for suffering and help the medicinal applications work together and better.

Reasons for Diseases:

As per astrology, if the alignment of the planets is wrong, physical beings suffer.

The ‘tridosha’ called vata (ether, air), pitta (fire, water), and kapha (water, earth) are stirred up by planetary motions and diseases are experienced from it. The sole cause of all such miseries is one's original sins or prarabdha karma he carries from all his previous births. Along with the treatment done to treat diseases, appeasement (pleasing the particular planet/graha responsible for the sickness) and avahana (removal of previous birth sins) for the respective disease should also be done.

So, with the help of horoscope and prashna method, we can find out the reason why a particular disease occurs or in other way, which planetary movement or placement is causing disease in a person. After finding out the reason, we can do the remedial poojas/havans to alleviate the disease.

Note: Roga prashna is applicable only in the cases of chronic and prolonged diseases and not in cases which need immediate medical care and critical conditions. It is not a replacement for modern medicine, but is often used as a complementary tool for holistic understanding and preventive care.
