The word “Sayujya” comes from Sanskrit — “saha + yuj”, meaning “to unite with” or “to be in union.”
Sayujya means complete union or oneness with the Divine. It is considered the highest form of liberation (moksha), where the individual soul (jīvātma) merges fully with the Supreme (Paramātma), losing all sense of separation.
In Hindu philosophy, especially in Vedanta, Tantra, and Bhakti traditions, Sayujya represents:
“The state where there is no difference between the worshipper and the worshipped.”
Sayujya Pooja is a rare and deeply spiritual ritual aimed at attaining liberation (moksha) through Sayujya Mukti — the highest state of union with the Divine. This ceremony is not commonly performed for worldly benefits, but for spiritual elevation, ancestral liberation, and oneness with the Supreme Consciousness, usually associated with Maha Vishnu.
What is Sayujya/Moksha?
In Vedantic and Tantric traditions, there are four types of liberation (Mukti):
Sālokya – Residing in the same realm as the deity
Sārūpya – Assuming the same form as the deity
Sāmīpya – Staying close to the deity
Sāyujya – Complete merging with the deity, ultimate liberation
Sayujya Pooja is performed to pray for this final union — for oneself, a spiritual seeker, or a departed soul.
Purpose of Sayujya Pooja:
To assist the soul of a deceased loved one in attaining moksha
To overcome strong karmic entanglements blocking the spiritual growth of a departed soul
How Sayujya Pooja is Performed:
Sayujya Pooja is performed after a certain number of Thil Havan for the Pitru, purifying his soul like molten gold, with a series of rituals such as Brahmana samaradhana, Vishnu Sahasranama, and other Vedic verses to reduce the karmic debts of the Pitru.
Sankalpa (Intent Statement): With clear intent for a departed soul’s moksha.
Purification & Nyasa: Purifying oneself and the space with Vedic mantras.
Invocation of the Supreme Deity: Usually Lord Vishnu, through intense Tantric rituals.
Prayers for the merging of jivatma with paramatma, seeking light and detachment.
Benefits of Sayujya Pooja:
Helps release stuck ancestral souls or departed persons from lower realms.
Burns deep karmas (especially Pitru doshas or past-life entanglements).
Sayujya Pooja is a very intense ritual that demands a high level of concentration and atonement rituals after the pooja.
